The 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models with the M3 Chip, released on March 8, 2024, brought the powerful 3-nanometer architecture Apple Silicon to the ultra-portable lineup. These fanless laptops feature enhanced performance, faster Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, support for up to two external displays with the lid closed, and a new fingerprint-resistant finish on the Midnight color option.
Key Features and Connectivity
M3 Chip Performance: Built on 3-nanometer technology, the M3 chip provides a significant performance boost over the M1 and M2 models and includes a faster 16-core Neural Engine to enhance on-device machine learning tasks and AI features in macOS.
Design: The ultra-thin, fanless aluminum unibody design is sustained, with the Midnight color receiving a new anodization seal to reduce fingerprints.
External Display Support: A new feature for the Air lineup, these M3 models can support up to two external displays when the laptop lid is closed.
Connectivity: They include faster Wi-Fi 6E (up to 2x faster than the M2 models) and retain a set of versatile ports:
